How it works

From request to proposals to tracking.

PuffinTrace Exchange is customer-led: you describe the need, qualified providers respond privately, and you decide. A request is never a booking.

  1. 01

    Create a request

    Describe what needs to move, from where to where, and when.

    • Origin, destination, cargo, ready and delivery windows, and a mode preference if you have one.
    • Anything you do not know stays marked unknown: dangerous-goods status, dimensions, HS codes.
    • You choose which providers receive the request.
    • Creating or sending a request does not create a booking.
  2. 02

    Compare private, versioned proposals

    Qualified providers respond privately. You see every proposal side by side.

    • Each provider sees its own proposal only, never anyone else's.
    • Proposals are itemized. Charges a provider has not priced are shown as unpriced, never as zero.
    • Scope is explicit, for example door-to-door or port-to-port only.
    • A changed proposal becomes a new version. Earlier versions stay visible.
  3. 03

    Track provider-reported updates

    Tracking is built from evidence, not an animated guess.

    • Every milestone shows its source, such as a carrier feed or the provider, and when it was reported.
    • Actual events and estimates are labeled differently.
    • When updates stop arriving, the shipment says so instead of guessing.
  4. 04

    Ship again

    Start the next request from a past shipment.

    • Route and cargo details are copied into a new draft request.
    • You pick new dates, review everything, and send when ready.
    • Shipping again creates one new request. Nothing is booked, dispatched or paid automatically.
